What do you do when you have pile of fabric remnants you just don’t want to part with? Make panties! Panties, knickers…call them what you will…they’re quick, fun little things to make which is why I got excited when I saw the new pattern collection from Measure Twice/Cut Once. Here’s the new Longbourn Collection.
Several completely different looks which is really refreshing! I bought the Lizzie and the Lydia patterns to try out. After that, I contacted Susan- the power behind Measure Twice/Cut Once and asked if I could host a giveaway and she was kind enough to say yes! Woot!
These are the patterns I bought- yup, bought them (disclosure: these patterns were not given to me in exchange for doing this giveaway)- I just thought they were so cute!
Here’s the pair I made. I cut a size bigger for the waist than the hip and the length because I was in between sizes. I think I stretched my elastic a wee bit too much but the fit is still great. For the next pair, I won’t pull the elastic so tight and I might cut the elastic a little bit larger. I don’t like my panties to cut into me.
I also have another pair cut out and ready to make, I love these so much! #meow
This is the Lizzie pattern. Fuller coverage in the back but tiny in the front. What can I say, I like tiny knickers. Below you can see how I graded from one size to another.

Nice encased seams!
The fabric I used is the same silk charmeuse I used for my Inara costume. I bought the ruffly elastic at JoAnn and I like the Firestar look I’m getting. I guess you could also go Iron Man…
I also like how these patterns are cut on the bias, meaning that I can use all my light weight wovens! Yay! That said, I did make my Lydia’s with a knit. I just didn’t cut them on the bias- I cut them with the stripe going the way I wanted it to go. Another thing included in the pattern is a design sheet so you can draw out ideas. So much fun! Several ideas are also included in the pattern so you can play around.
I’m glad I went for the larger waist because these two patterns are low on the hip. The instructions are clear and easy to read. I have made panties before so a lot of this wasn’t new to me. Anyone can make panties!! If you’re nervous, just ask questions. I know Susan is more than willing to help out; as am I and all the sewcialists on Twitter.
Let’s get to the exciting part! The giveaway.

I’m gonna go back to making more tiny panties! Have a great weekend! Hope you get some sewing in!!
i love the jane shorts! in face i may well have bought the pattern before you announce the winner! in which case the charlotte knickers or the mary knit shorts!
My favorite go to panties are very close to their Mary Knickers. The only reason I haven’t taken any of mine apart is that I can’t buy them anymore!
maybe with these I can make as many as I want!
I like the Mary Knickers! (and I like saying KNICKERS, sorry American over here 🙂 )
It’s a hard choice! I’m torn between the Georgiana and the Mary knickers, but I think that the Georgiana ones win out in the end.I have some rather fun ruffle fabric that I’ve used to make knickers before, it would be fun to try a different pattern.
I am more of a Charlotte type knickers girl. 🙂
The Mary Knickers, for sure. But because I’m on the hunt for awesome pole short patterns for my pole fitness class. 🙂 Those little scraps cost almost $50 retail!
This is perfect – I was just looking at these patterns yesterday and thinking about what a great way they would be to use up the larger scraps I just can’t bear to throw away. I would definitely go with the Georgiana ones.
I like the Georgiana knickers the best, AND last week I bought some lingerie elastic and organic cotton for lining so I’m excited to start using my scraps for undies! Thanks for offering the giveaway 🙂
They look so cute! I think the Lydia and the Lizzie knickers as well. Oh well, I like all of them…
I like the Mary and the Lydia. Some days you just need boy shorts and some days you want skimpy.
Ooh, I like. I think I’d go for either the Mary knickers or the Georgianas.
I’m partial to the Geogiana or the Charlotte. Need to go look at Mary again – they are quite popular in the comments! What a great give away.
I love yours with the ruffly elastic – that’s very fun! g
Yours look great! I like the Georgiana ones
I’d either go with Lydia to wear with trousers or Charlotte to wear with skirts. Hmmm… Lydia, I think!
Ooooh! These undie patterns are terrific! I’s love to try the Lizzie Knickers… or the Georgiana ones… I don’t know! All of them, please.
I’d have to say Mary, but really only because they’re designed for stretch fabrics. What I’d really love to see is, what we call in the UK, high legs, also designed for stretch fabric.
Finally knicker patterns that suit my style… since you asked, I’m a Lydia! Also loving the design examples shown on the website – diagonal velvet ribbon… bring it on!
These are lovely! My favourites are the Georgiana.
I would love to sew the Charlotte knickers. I generally prefer knickers with a high waist, so might make those a bit bigger if the rise is too low.
Haha! I just realized that its a Pride and Prejudice collection! That’s so fun. I’m loving the Mary undies. I’ve been toying with making my own and was thinking about how to make a boy short pair. Looks like she’s done the work for me!
I love those Charlottle knickers – I got to keep my boottom (that’s bottom + bootie) covered!!!
Underwear scrap busting awesome idea!!! I vote Georgiana!!
I’ve been eyeing the Lizzie since it was posted to Kollabora, so that would be my vote. 🙂 Plus, yours are so pretty that I feel the need to copy them. 😉
I love the Lizzie knickers! This is such a great line of patterns. I also enjoy calling them knickers 🙂
I love the classic looking Charlotte knickers – they look comfy and I could make them for bike riding this summer! I hadn’t seen this company – thanks for sharing!
I haven’t heard of this company before! But I have been trying to get up the nerve (and time) to scrapbust with some undies-making, so a cute pattern would definitely help. I like the look of the Lizzie the best, but the Charlotte could be a useful addition to my life as well.
I know it will reveal that I’m kind of a granny, but I’d love the Charlottes, lol. Yours came out so cute!
When I was first learning to sew, my mom gave me an old granny panty quik sew pattern and a metric ton of tricot. That was how I learned to sew. If I screwed up, the project was small if it needed to be tossed, or if it was still ok, the mistake didn’t show. I sewed myself a full year’s supply of panties before she let me do something big. needless to say, stretch knits have never scared me. It’s what I started with.
I like Georgiana. It’s small enough to not show above my girl’s jeans, but enough coverage their father won’t blush as he folds laundry. 😉
I’m sorry, but P&P-inspired undies? Yes, please! I quite like the Mary boy-shorts and the Charlotte knickers. Low-rise & full coverage, thank you very much.
I would love to win the Georgiana knickers. Thank you for the give away.
I really like the Georgiana knickers!
I love boy shorts, so it’s the Mary knickers for me!
Lydia for me. So cute!
Very cute panties you’ve made, Leila! I am all about the Mary Knickers. The Jane looks great too. Do you detect a theme?!
You’re awesome & aren’t they great! I’ve just bought the Charlotte, I couldn’t bear to possibly miss out 😉 I’d love the Mary to complement them (and to use up my knit remnants as well as my woven pretties!) if I was fortunate enough to win 😉
I really love the Charlotte’s.
I’d love the Jane knickers! They look like they would be ultra comfy as little sleeping shorts. Though honestly all the patterns look pretty awesome!
I’ve been wanting to try these! I like the Lydia!!
I like the Georgiana knickers! Glad we can keep the Pride and Prejudice theme to cute knickers though – I don’t fancy having to wear a corset!
I think I am more of a Mary Knickers kind of girl.
I would go for Charlotte. Or maybe Mary, I think my preference is somewhere in between those two. But if I only get to pick one, I think it’s Charlotte.
I really love the Charlotte knickers, they’re exactly my style!
Love a great fitting panty!! I like the Jane knickers. I’ve never made undies before!
I love the Lydia pattern. Have always wanted to try making knickers so I would be thrilled to win.
After careful consideration, definitely the Charlotte!
I like the georgiana knickers but I could wear any of them!!
Thank you so much for featuring our patterns. It’s so exciting to be able to share this with all the wonderful sewists.
